Spa COLOR

On our list of topics in Spa Fresh Magazine this month, one of
the topics is Color Trends, particularly the trends of color used
in Spas or any Spa environment. With this in mind, I went to
a local spa that I have went to for services for several years and
realized that they slowly painted every square inch of the spa,
brown. Not really a gray-brown but more of a
yellow-brown. But they didn't stop with the walls.
Paintings, the bathroom, tables, chairs, flooring...even the wall
decoration are the same type of brown.

Now don't get me wrong...love brown (as you can see by the Body
Systems theme colors) but I noticed the overuse of brown when I saw
the brown chair sitting against the brown wall decorated with a
brown piece of art.

Remember Mom saying that too much of anything isn't
healthy. Wow was she right!

They did leave one massage room blue. Why? Don't
know. I do know that if I do get a massage in the blue room I
finally feel relaxed. Sort of like finding an oasis in a
brown desert.

Brown isn't the most relaxing color so it baffles me that this
spa owner has decided to Brown-Out the Spa. There isn't even
a Creme or Ivory to break it up. Makes the client feel at
odds with the environment.

There are some wonderful spas out there that have taken the
1-color approach but they did it right. One color in various
tones, and textures creates a wonderful mood if done in a base
color that is relaxing to begin with such as blue, aqua, white or
purple.

So remember, when designing a spa environment think of natural
textures, and colors. You can do one color but think of the
various forms or variations of that one color to create visual
variations.

Shower Room

I've just decided that the greatest "bath" invention is the Curved
Shower Curtain. With a little bit of installation, this gives
about a foot of additonal shoulder room in your shower and if you
hate the shower curtain sticking to your skin in a good hot shower,
then you've got to get one of these!

Mini Spa Re-Treat

Ever have one of those days or weeks that seem to fly by
and you haven't even had time to look at your To-Do list let alone
take time for yourself to relax?

One of my favorite things
to do is take a long soak in the tub but rarely is there any time
in the day to relax like this. I love to take 1 or 2 spa
products and create a quick bath/shower/spa treatment which only
take 10-15 minutes.

RECIPE: MINI
SPA RE-TREAT

INGREDIENTS: Whipped Shea Butter
& a great emusifying or shea butter-based
scrub.

INSTRUCTIONS: Get into the
shower/tub and shampoo and cleanse as normal. (You can also
wait and cleanse after your spa treatment.) Apply Whipped
Shea Butter to hair and fill up the tub with some warm
water. As the water is filling in the tub, take your scrub
and exfoliate the body starting with extremities and moving in a
circular motion towards the heart. Then slip into the bath
water and soak for about 5-10 minutes. This does two
things: Rinses off the scrub and fills the water with
moisturizers and ingredients to detox the skin and rejuvenate the
body as a whole. After your great soak, just rinse out your
hair. For oily hair, you may want to shampoo again but for
normal to dry hair just pat dry.

FINISH: To finish your mini-spa
retreat, apply Whipped shea butter from head to toe. The Shea
Butter has a very low melting point and melts into the skin and
doesn't feel greasy.

Now in your 15 minutes you
managed to treat your hair, exfoliate the entire body, detox your
internal skin layers and deep treat your skin with shea
butter. Now that's what I call multiple mini spa retreat that
doesn't take 4 hours and cost much at all.
